Grand Valley mourns death of WGVU staff member
Longtime WGVU Public Media staff member Linda Kennedy died December
20 after her battle with cancer. She was 64.
Kennedy served as development coordinator at WGVU and editor of
the Showplace Program Guide. She worked for more than two
decades for WGVU’s four television channels and two radio stations.
“Linda joined WGVU Public Media in 1992 as a receptionist and
held a number of positions with the stations, each with increasing
responsibility,” said Michael Walenta, WGVU general manager. “Linda
was always warm and captivating with everyone she met. I will miss her
engaging smile, her energetic personality and her passion for WGVU.”
Kennedy could be seen on WGVU during pledge time or auction; her
mother, daughter and granddaughter have also volunteered.
Prior to her years at WGVU, Kennedy drove her Plymouth Road
Runner as a stock class drag racer in the early 1970s at the former
Thunderbird Dragway outside Muskegon.
