Art 2 Park contest seeks designs for parking permit

Grand Valley students have the opportunity to design the 2013-2014 parking permit that will be featured on approximately 15,000 cars. The winner will also receive a free parking permit for the year.

“Art 2 Park” is open to all currently enrolled students in good academic standing.

Students, faculty and staff members may vote on up to three entries between March 11 and March 21 to determine the top ten designs. Then another round of voting will choose one design from the top 10 to win the grand prize.

This is the second year for the contest created by Lisa Garringer, parking systems coordinator. Claire Marchesano, a senior majoring in hospitality and tourism management, is a parking systems intern who will coordinate this year’s contest.

“It’s a really good opportunity to build your portfolio and resume, even if you’re not an art student,” said Marchesano. “Grand Valley is here for the students, so why not have the parking pass designed by students?”
