The campus community is invited to participate in a 5K run/walk on the Allendale Campus that will benefit Oasis of Hope, a free health clinic in Grand Rapids.

The annual “Heels to Heal” event is sponsored by the RPC Physician Assistant Student Society. The event is September 29 on the Allendale Campus, beginning with registration at 9 a.m., the race begins at 11 a.m. Cost to enter is $15 for students and $20 for non-students before September 15; late registration costs are $15 and $25, respectively.

Last year, about 100 people participated in Heels to Heal and raised $5,000 through a combination of entry fees and donations. Race sponsors are Professional Metal Finishers and Credit Union One.

“This year, our goal is to have at least 150 participants and we’d like to raise at least $5,000 from company sponsorships alone,” said Jillian Veeneman, president of the RPC Student Society.

The PAS program has partnered with Oasis of Hope since the clinic’s founding in 2007. Students assist clinic staff members by hosting events to promote healthy lifestyles in the Grand Rapids community.
