Police and campus officials at Grand Valley State University will conduct a planned test of the Allendale Campus outdoor emergency notification system on Tuesday, September 4, at 11 a.m.

The test is expected to last a maximum of two hours, and will include testing of all five sirens located on the Allendale Campus. The test will include traditional siren sounds, various pre-recorded voice messages, and a live public address system announcement.

Grand Valley Police Department dispatchers, officers, and other staff will use the test to train on the equipment before the new system is made operational.

The sirens and other messages may be heard in areas near campus, including Allendale, Tallmadge and Georgetown townships. Police and fire officials in those municipalities have been notified of the test, along with Ottawa County emergency responders and law enforcement.
