Ashok Kumar, professor of management, was interviewed by WGVU Radio for a story about the Fulbright Program and being selected to serve as Fulbright-Nehru Scholar.

Sketches

Salvatore Alaimo, assistant professor of public, nonprofit and health administration, gave a presentation, “The Impact of the Demand for Evaluation on Professional Fundraisers,” at the Association for Nonprofit and Social Economy Research Conference in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Institutional Marketing received an Award of Excellence in the 2012 Communicator Awards competition for the cover design of the 2011 Grand Valley University Foundation Annual Report, and Awards of Distinction for the overall 2011 annual report, “Crimes of the Heart” poster for theater, senior viewbook for admissions, study abroad recruitment catalog for the Padnos International Center, and the Indulge in a Cause invitation for the Women’s Center.

WGVU Public Media received an Emmy nomination for “Hope College Christmas Vespers 2011” by the National Academy of Television and Sciences Michigan Chapter. 

Kelly A. Parker, professor of philosophy, gave a presentation, “Ecohumanities and Service Learning: New Directions in Pedagogy,” at the World Symposium on Sustainable Development at Universities in Rio.

Dan Balfour, professor of public, nonprofit and health administration, gave a presentation, “Toward a Political Economy of Public Values, Ethics and Institutions in a Context of Globalization and Hypermodernity,” at the Public Values Biennial Workshop at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
