Contest encourages students to share Laker pride
If you had to describe your Grand Valley experience in five words,
what would they be?
This is the latest challenge for Grand Valley students in an
initiative called Laker5, which is designed to encourage students to
express their creativity and school spirit in just five words. The “5”
of Laker5 represents each decade of the university’s service to the
community.
From January 9-27, current Grand Valley students can submit up
to three Laker5 entries at
www.gvsu.edu/laker5,
where they will appear on the website. Students will be able to vote
on their favorite entries, up to three times, from January 31-February
9, and the top 10 finalists will receive a free ticket to the
Presidents’ Ball on February 17, where the top 5 winners will be
announced.
A group of judges will determine first, second and third place
winners, along with two runners-up. Winners will receive scholarships
that total more than $2,500. The first place winner will receive a
$1,000 scholarship to Grand Valley, the second place winner will
receive a $750 scholarship, and the third place winner will receive a
$500 scholarship. The two runner-ups will each receive a $250 scholarship.
