Grand Valley’s Campus Dining Relay for Life team was awarded the Team Excellence Award from the American Cancer Society Great Lakes Division for raising more than $10,000 for Relay for Life.

“We’ve been able to raise more and more each year for Grand Valley’s Relay for Life event,” said Tammie Luce, Campus Dining training and project manager. “And we’re proud to be part this event that supports such a great cause.”

The Campus Dining Relay for Life team raised more than $11,000 last year and can be found fundraising at home football game concession stands and at the Van Andel Arena during Grand Rapids Griffins hockey games. Luce and Karrie Erwin, Lobby Shop supervisor, are co-chairs for the Relay for Life Campus Dining team and organize on-campus fundraisers each year including bake sales and silent auctions.

Students and faculty and staff members are encouraged to join or form teams for the 10th annual Relay for Life event, set for April 13. The 12-hour team event is sponsored by the student group Colleges Against Cancer. Last year, more than $100,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society.
