The Social Media Committee at Grand Valley surveyed the campus
community regarding social media habits and practices in March 2011.
It served as a way for Grand Valley to evaluate the university’s
current social media practices, plan future initiatives and understand
how the campus community is using social media.
Nearly 70 percent of participants were undergraduates.
Survey results showed:
- 31% percent of participants are on Twitter and primarily use
it for social networking;
- Most students prefer to obtain their news on websites, 13% use
social networks;
- About 14% of participants use their mobile devices to receive
news, the majority use a computer.
