Champions were celebrated December 8 as the Women's Center hosted a reception to congratulate four Grand Valley's women's varsity teams on winning seasons.
Women’s cross country and soccer teams made NCAA Division II history by winning national championships on the same day. The Laker volleyball team won the Midwest Regional and placed in the Elite Eight, and the women’s tennis team won the GLIAC championship.
Jerry Baltes, head cross country and track coach, said the reception, held in the Kirkhof Center, was an example of why Grand Valley is special. "The support across campus for us has been tremendous," said Baltes, who was recently named 2010 National Women's Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coach Association.
