Four faculty members in the School of Social Work were recognized by the
Grand Rapids chapter of the Negro Business and Professional Women's Club
for their outstanding teaching and community service.
Dianne Green-Smith, Robin Smith-Colton, Lois Smith Owens and Elaine
Ragsdale Schott were honored for their individual research and expertise
in various areas. They were recognized for work in the areas of HIV and
AIDS among African immigrant women, competence and resilience among
African American adolescents, African American male adolescent identity
formation and ego development, qualitative research regarding African
American women suffragettes, and cultural competence and diversity training.
