Publication helps explain energy tax credits

MUSKEGON, Mich. — A new guide published by the Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Center at Grand Valley State University aims to help people untangle information about the various state and federal energy-related tax credits and rebates.

MAREC interim director Arn Boezaart said that calls for information have been coming in since he arrived at the center in April.

"Assisting the public in gaining access to this information and helping individuals and businesses to take full advantage of these programs and opportunities is part of MAREC's education and public outreach mission," said Boezaart.

MAREC has completed three documents that give an overview of what is available through federal and state programs. Two of the documents are quick one-page overview guides. The other is an expansive review of the subject. The PDF documents are available to download free at www.gvsu.edu/marec , under the "Resources" page.

MAREC is a business incubator and research and development center for alternative and renewable energy technologies. It also serves as a major demonstration project of those technologies.  MAREC is a SmartZone created by the Michigan Economic Development Corp. in 2001 as part of an effort to promote and attract high technology business development in the state.
