The Department of Art & Design at Grand Valley State University will
present a lecture by internationally acclaimed artist Dennis Oppenheim.
The lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, at the Urban
Institute for Contemporary Arts, 41 Sheldon SE, Grand Rapids. This event
is free and open to the public.
Oppenheim received his BFA from the School of Arts and Crafts, and an
MFA from Stanford University. He has been awarded fellowships from both
the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Oppenheim's work has been exhibited internationally at venues including
the Tate Gallery, London; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Whitney Museum of
American Art; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Musee d'Art Moderne de
la Ville de Paris; Galerie Pro Arte, Germany; and the Joseph Helman
Gallery, New York.
