Stem cell therapy, cloning, face transplantation and producing human organs are just a few of the topics that will be discussed by a leading expert in human genetics.
Grand Valley's Regional Math and Science Center is sponsoring a free community lecture by Sam Rhine, an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University. Rhine travels the country speaking to teachers and nurses about human genetics.
The event will take place Monday, September 28, from 7-8:30 p.m. in Loosemore Auditorium in the DeVos Center, 401 W. Fulton St., on Grand Valley’s Pew Grand Rapids Campus.
Rhine has also taught at Tufts University in Boston, Union College in Schenectady, University of St. Thomas in Houston and Indiana/Purdue in Indianapolis. He received the “Distinguished Hoosier Scholar Award” from the Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc. in 2007 and was given the “Honorary Member Award” by the National Association of Biology Teachers.
