The Grand Valley State University community is mourning the death of one
of its students. The Grand Valley Police Department reports that it
appears there were no signs of foul play.
An officer found the body of 24-year-old Daniel Lee Smith of Muskegon in
South B on the Allendale Campus around 4:30 p.m. on March 10, 2009.
After Smith didn't show up for a scheduled meeting, GVPD was asked to
check on his well-being and found the body.
An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
The Counseling Center staff is assisting the campus community. Anyone in
