Provost Gayle R. Davis announced that Priscilla Kimboko, dean of
Graduate Studies and Grants Administration, will step down from that
position to take on a role that will expand the university's initiatives
in gerontology.
Kimboko, dean for 10 years, will assume a faculty member role in the
College of Community and Public Service and expand Grand Valley’s
external funding and community engagement in areas related to aging.
Davis said: “Dean Kimboko has done much important work for the
university to support graduate education and sponsored research. I know
she will make great contributions in the increasingly important field of
gerontology, as well.”
In August, John Stevenson, associate dean of Graduate Studies, will
assume the role of interim dean. Davis said because of the department’s
growth, the NCA site team recommended a restructuring in GSGA and that
another person be in the role of director of Grants Development and
Administration. The current grants development director, Christine
Chamberlain, will assume that interim role while a national search for
both positions begins in the fall.
Another structural change in GSGA will be to house the Research and
Development Committee and its internal grants budget in the newly formed
Center for Scholarly and Creative Excellence.
