CMB becomes academic department

The Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) program is now its own academic department. Mark Staves, chair of the CMB department, said the program used to be part of the biology department, but the change was needed because of the growth and popularity of the CMB program.

The program offers a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology which prepares students for employment or graduate training in the fields of cell and molecular biology, biotechnology and biomedical research. A Master of Science in CMB offers a thesis-based research option as well as a Professional Science Masters in Biotechnology. The program currently has 70 undergraduate and 30 graduate students.
