Tibetan GVSU prof available for comment

ALLENDALE, Mich. — Violent protests over Chinese rule in Tibet are continuing as Tibetan political and spiritual leader the Dalai Lama warned of “cultural genocide.” Grand Valley State University history professor Yosay Wangdi is available to comment on the situation in Tibet. Wangdi is a Tibetan who calls the current situation “very worrisome.”

Wangdi earned her Ph.D. in history from the University of Nevada, Reno. She joined the Department of History at Grand Valley State University in August 2003.  A second generation Tibetan born outside of Tibet in India, Wangdi was honored as the first female Tibetan professor in the United States by the Central Tibetan Administration of the Exile Government based in Dharamsala, India.
