A group of Lowell Middle School students are pictured with an exercise
bike, after a presentation at the school on SPARKLE by John Kilbourne,
professor of movement science.
The SPARKLE (Spinning Physical and Renewable Kinetic Living Energy)
Project uses human motion on an exercise bike to enhance health and
fitness while producing usable electric energy. Kilbourne said tools and
appliances like computers, cell phones, iPods, and batteries can all be
powered or charged using human energy.
