New interim director for Grand Valley charter schools office

Ed Richardson, the director of Grand Valley’s Charter Schools Office, is leaving for a position with National Heritage Academies.

President Thomas J. Haas has appointed former Grand Valley vice president Dr. Patricia Oldt to be the interim director of the Charter Schools Office and to chair the search for a permanent director. Oldt has been teaching in the Grand Valley College of Education and consulting to the CSO since leaving the vice presidency last year.

Richardson joined Grand Valley as director of the CSO in July 2002, following his position as superintendent with the Chelsea School District. He will assume the position of Director of Measurement and Assessment with National Heritage Academies. NHA partners with local school boards to manage charter schools. Grand Valley charters 28 schools and 16 are managed by NHA.

Richardson’s last day with Grand Valley is October 17.
