Mother of slain Grand Rapids attorney will speak

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The mother of a Grand Rapids attorney who died following a domestic violence attack will talk about that incident during a program at Grand Valley State University.

Betty Partee will talk about her daughter, Leonytne "Tina" Partee, during Silent Witness, a program sponsored by Grand Valley's Women's Center that honors area victims of domestic violence. The event is set for Wednesday, October 8, at noon in the Kirkhof Center, Grand River Room. Media coverage is welcome.

Tina Partee, a Grand Rapids attorney, died in 2007 after she was stabbed by her estranged husband in her apartment. Kevin Elder was charged with first-degree murder.

During Silent Witness, students, faculty and staff members will read the stories of other victims who have died following domestic violence attacks. The event is free and open to the public. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
