Magnificent Earth Voyager visits Grand Haven to promote Great Lakes restoration

Earth Voyager, the fastest sailing vessel on the Great Lakes, is a Formula 60 trimaran — 60 feet long, 44 feet wide, with a mast that stands nearly 100 feet off the water.

Earth Voyager will visit Grand Haven Friday, August 8, as part of a 13-city tour to raise awareness of the benefits of restoring Lake Michigan and the other Great Lakes, sponsored in part by Grand Valley State University.

A news conference will be held from 10-11 a.m. at Ferry Landing, outside the Tri-Cities Historical Museum, at One North Harbor Drive in Grand Haven.

Speakers at the news conference include:
  • Congressman Vern Ehlers, R-Grand Rapids
  • Alan Steinman, director of Grand Valley State University’s Annis Water Resources Institute
  • Marci Cisneros, director of tourism for the Grand Haven Area Convention & Visitors Bureau

After the news conference, guests will take a cruise on the W.G. Jackson, one of Grand Valley’s research vessels.

The event is sponsored by Grand Valley State University’s Annis Water Resources Institute, Alliance for the Great Lakes, Grand Haven City, Clean-up Our River Environment, Grand River Sailing
