After 20 years of service as director Grand Valley's Children’s Center,
Mary Ann Krause retired at the end of Fall Semester. But thanks to the
holidays, Krause said her retirement doesn’t seem real yet.
“It just seems like a normal holiday vacation. It really is going to be
sometime in January before it sinks in,” Krause said. “This is a great
opportunity for change, and I’m excited about it.”
Grand Valley will be celebrating Krause's service to the university's
children on Wednesday, January 9 from 3-5 p.m. in the Perry Dining Room
of the Alumni House. Refreshments will be provided. The entire
university community is invited — especially children.
“I think that a university should honor learners of all ages, and
learning is really at its most exciting when it’s young and fresh,”
Krause said. “We’re all lifetime learners. Now I’m at the other end of
the spectrum. The children have taught me plenty about play, and I plan
on using that knowledge in my retirement.”
