Smoke in a physics lab in Kennedy Hall of Engineering on
Grand Valley's Pew Grand Rapids Campus caused an evacuation of
Kennedy, Keller Lab and the Eberhard Center, Nov. 24, around 11 a.m.
Consumers Energy was working on site because of a partial loss of
power. A resultant power surge may have caused the smoke.
Lisa Haynes, assistant vice president for Operations for Pew
Campus and Regional Centers said the Grand Rapids Fire Department
responded, but added there was no fire.
Power was restored and classes resumed around 12:30 p.m.
