Grand Valley feature film to play in Grand Haven

"To Live and Die in Dixie," a feature-length film produced by the Grand Valley State University Summer Film Project in 2007, will play for one week, beginning Friday, September 5, at the Grand Haven 9 theater, 17220 Hayes St., in Grand Haven.

The film is based on a true story of a love triangle at a southern college that ended with two murders. It was shot entirely in West Michigan, directed by John Harper Philbin and produced by a crew of more than 60 Grand Valley students who worked side-by-side with film industry professionals. The casting drew professional actors from Hollywood, Chicago, Detroit and Grand Rapids. Heather Prete plays Eve, the university secretary who becomes consumed by the murder case. Scott Lowell plays the detective and Marcus Hendricks is the alleged murderer.

Show times run throughout each day from 11:20 a.m. through 11:20 p.m. Ticket prices for everyone are $4 before 6 p.m., with evening tickets at $6.50 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Fifty percent of box office receipts will be donated to Grand Valley.
