A farmers market will return to Grand Valley State University's
Allendale Campus this summer, beginning June 11 and continuing each
Wednesday through August 20.
Area vendors, ranging from nine-12 weekly, will sell produce, breads,
flowers, jerky, candy and more from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in parking lot F,
near the Fieldhouse. The public is welcome.
Campus Dining will feature food samples from a vendor each week in
addition to selling light lunches. Staff members from Campus Recreation
will also be available to offer tips on healthy lifestyles and exercises.
Sue Sloop, GVSU Work Life Connections consultant, said the market fits
well with the university's sustainability initiative. "We hope to
expand farther into the community this year through a collaboration with
the Allendale and Coopersville farmers markets," she said.
"The GVSU Farmers Market provides the opportunity to promote
healthy lifestyle choices and to support the surrounding community."
