December commencement set for Saturday

Grand Valley State University students will hear from the leader of West Michigan's largest health care system at commencement, Dec. 6. Richard C. Breon, president and CEO of Spectrum Health has more than three decades of experience in health care administration.

Grand Valley State University Commencement ceremonies will take place Saturday, December 6, at 10 a.m., at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids. About 800 students are expected.

Also at commencement, the Alumni Association will present two awards. Deborah L. Clanton will receive the Distinguished Alumna Award and Lois Tyson will receive the Outstanding Educator Award. Clanton serves as magistrate and director of probation services for the 62nd B District Court of Kentwood. Tyson, professor of English, has been a member of Grand Valley’s faculty for more than 26 years.
