Celebrating Entrepreneurship in West Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Budding entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to hear from business leaders who will offer valuable information during May 5 event at Grand Valley State University.

The event, “Celebrating Entrepreneurship in West Michigan,” is a collaboration between The Grand Angels, Seidman College of Business, Grand Valley State University and The University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.

“Entrepreneurship has always been a key ingredient in Michigan’s success. It’s important for the state to continue to support the next generation of entrepreneurs in meaningful ways,” said H. James Williams, dean of the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley. “This event is a way for us and our collaborators to promote and celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit.”

The day-long event is divided into two sessions. The morning session is a gathering of leaders of entrepreneurial funding organizations, professionals who support entrepreneurs and the business start-up and growth processes, and community activists who spur on entrepreneurship.  The afternoon session will be filled with business owners sharing their knowledge, experiences and lessons learned to help other business owners prepare for their future. The afternoon will also feature a panel discussion of the entrepreneurial aspects of family-owned businesses.
