The Annis Water Resources Institute in Muskegon is accepting
applications for a fall scholarship and summer internships.
A student research scholarship is made possible by a gift from Bill and
Diana Wipperfurth. The Wipperfurths started this scholarship because of
their love of water and wanted to support promotion of water quality,
particularly in the Great Lakes. A $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to
a full-time student entering his or her junior year, senior year, or at
the graduate level. Students must have a minimum of 55 earned credit
hours. For this scholarship, the student will be involved in academic
research activities under the supervision of faculty or staff at AWRI. .
The Allen Hunting Internship will be awarded to an undergraduate student
engaged in efforts aimed at improving and enhancing the water quality in
the greater west Michigan region. The purpose of this internship is to
broaden the student’s perspective in his or her chosen discipline
through practical application of classroom learning. The recipient of
the internship is expected to work an average of 40 hours per week with
an AWRI faculty member for 14 weeks during the summer semester, and will
be compensated up to a maximum of $5,000.
AWRI is offering up to four competitive summer semester internships made
possible by a gift from the D. J. Angus-Scientech Educational
Foundation, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The internships will be
awarded to students majoring in the sciences, including engineering,
computer, health, natural resource management, biological, chemical and
physical sciences. The recipient is expected to work up to 40 hours per
