Laila Al-Qatami, the communications director for the American-Arab
Anti-Discrimination Committee will speak at Grand Valley State
University on Thursday, February 21 at 1 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center’s
Grand River Room.
Al-Qatami's work involves daily interaction with major domestic and
international media outlets. She has provided commentary for numerous
U.S. news sources and has also appeared on the leading Arabic language
television stations. She also serves as an editorial consultant for a
wide range of documentaries and educational programs about Arabs,
Arab-Americans, Islam, and civil rights in the U.S. She is a member of
the National Board of Directors for the American Civil Liberties Union
and is is the first Arab-American to hold this position.
