Ambassador alumnus profiled

Grand Valley State University alumnus John Beyrle is the new ambassador to Russia. Beyrle was profiled in the Muskegon Chronicle during a visit with his family.

In the interview, Beyrle said he's witnessing "a time of unprecedented change" in Russia.

"The transition is unprecedented from the first time I was here," he said. "To go from a totalitarian Communist state to a democratic market economy is remarkable."
