Women's Commission plans fall celebration

Grand Valley's Women's Commission invites faculty and staff members to the annual fall Women's Welcome Reception, set for September 20 at noon in the Kirkhof Center, Grand River Room.

Lisa Sweany, senior associate athletic director, will give the keynote address. A light lunch will be served; RSVP by sending an e-mail to [email protected] or calling (616) 331-2748. Co-sponsors of the event are Office of Planning and Equity, Women’s Center, Positive Black Women and Women and Gender Studies. Information and representatives from these groups will be available.

The Women’s Commission meets on the first Thursday of each month in the Kirkhof Center, room 242. New members are welcome. Sharalle Arnold, commission chair, said the group continues to focus on issues relevant to women on campus, including family friendly policies and advancement opportunities for staff members.

Following the reception, the Women’s Center will hosts its annual art reception from 1:30-3 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center, room 161. Visitors can meet the artists whose work is displayed in the center. Artists are
