The West Michigan Science and Technology Initiative will host more than 40 exhibitors during the 2007 Life Sciences Business Showcase on Thursday, March 22 at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids.
This is the third year for the showcase, which allows 50 life science companies to exhibit marketing materials and product samples to event attendees. Guests interact with companies through fast-paced networking. Each year the event has a different theme to help facilitate networking. This year's theme is "It's A Fair!" Guests will enjoy cotton candy, play fair games, win prizes and meet some of the innovators in Michigan's burgeoning life sciences industry.
The event runs from 6-11 p.m. The cost is $35 for BioTech Connect members and $50 for non-members.
"It is amazing to see the level of growth that the life science industry has experienced in the past several years," said WMSTI executive director Matt Dugener. "When the first showcase took place there were 10 exhibitors, then the second year 20 and we are now at 50 exhibitors and triple the attendees. This is a great time for Michigan and more specifically Grand Rapids."
The event aims to highlight local life science companies and provide an environment where businesses can make connections not otherwise possible. It also hopes to educate the community on research collaborations and raise awareness of the growth of the life science industry within Michigan.
