Enrollment numbers for Winter 2007 are up 3.6 percent and show that
Grand Valley’s campuses continue to become more diverse.
Winter 2007 enrollment totalled 22,309, up from 21,537 last year.
Lynn Blue, vice provost and dean of Academic Services and Information
Technology, said since 2004, there has been a 29 percent increase in the
number of ethnic groups, from 1,993 in 2004 to 2,566 this year.
Blue said enrollment figures also indicate Grand Valley is becoming
more geographically diverse. In 2000, 44 percent of students were from
outside the tri-county area of Kent, Muskegon and Ottawa counties. In
2007, 50 percent are from outside the tri-county area.
