VAGTC Holds Workshop on Foreign Trade Financial Tools

In the international trade arena, all businesses share the fear of not getting paid for a sale. While exporting is a logical step in expanding market share, there is always a risk that comes with selling to a new customer. The Grand Valley State University's Van Andel Global Trade Center is holding programs in Grand Rapids and Livonia that will provide information about finance options and tools that will help companies increase exports to international markets while reducing some of the risks.

This program, called "Financing Tools to Penetrate Foreign Markets," will be held February 5 in Livonia and February 6 in Grand Rapids. A Webinar will also be offered on February 6. Participants who can't be on-site can receive interactive information on their desktop and ask questions of the presenters remotely.

Presenters include Jan Blaho, business development officer of the Export-Import Bank of the United States; Justin Goheen, vice president of business development for EIA Global and Scott Hibbard, vice president of Comerica Bank.

On February 5, the presentation will be from 1-4 p.m. at 31900 West 6 Mile Road in Livonia (NE corner of 6 Mile and Hagerty Road. The cost is $45. On February 6, the presentation in Grand Rapids will be from 8-11 a.m. in the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences at Grand Valley State University. The cost is also $45.
