Sustainability Scholarship Offered

The College of Interdisciplinary Studies, in partnership with Nichols Corp., is offering two $500 scholarships for the 2007-08 academic year.

Scholarship recipients are expected to be involved with ongoing campus and community sustainability efforts, working in concert with Norman Christopher, Director of GVSUs Sustainability Initiative. The scholarship money, along with an endowment to continue funding the scholarship was offered to GVSU by Nichols last year. Nichols Corp. is major Western Michigan distributor focusing on the industrial, institutional, health care and lodging markets. They specialize in two main product areas: packaging, production supplies and equipment; and paper, sanitary supplies and equipment. They offer a comprehensive Green and Clean program that not only includes “green” products for facilities maintenance but also offers education, training and support to help companies implement green policies.
