GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Steven Sorman, the first artist holding the Stuart and Barbara Padnos Chair in the Department of Art and Design Grand Valley State University, will give a lecture and present a slide show, "The Working Artist." The event, on Thursday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. will be held at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts, 41 Sheldon S.E., Grand Rapids. A reception will follow the lecture.
Sorman, an internationally known and accomplished printmaker and painter, most recently of upstate New York, is the holder of the Padnos Chair for 2007-2009. An exhibition of his work, currently at UICA, runs through November 18. Exhibition hours are noon-10 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays, and noon-7 p.m. Sundays.
