Room and board rates at Grand Valley will increase 4.2 percent for fall
2007.
That’s an increase of about $280 from last year for students living in
a traditional residence hall. Double-occupancy room rates will be $6,880
for the 2007-08 academic year, up from $6,600 in 2006-07.
Jim Bachmeier, vice president for Finance and Administration, said the
increase was affected by changes in minimum wage and the large number of
students who work for the university.
Compared to other state universities that offer housing, Bachmeier said
Grand Valley falls near the middle.
“We’re sixth out of 13, with one being the most expensive,” he said. “I
still say it’s the best value in the state because the accommodations
are so nice.”
