Remembering Todd Jager

Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Grand Valley State University head athletic trainer Todd Jager, who passed away Thursday morning in Grand Haven. Jager, 41, battled a Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumor that he was diagnosed with in May of 2005.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Todd's family, espcially Lorie and the boys (Jacob and Calvin)," said Grand Valley Athletics Director Tim Selgo. "Todd was a special individual. He was always upbeat and was an inspiration to everyone that he came in contact with. He had a significant impact on Grand Valley State University, and he will be sorely missed."

Jager became Grand Valley State's head athletic trainer in July of 1998. Before coming to Grand Valley, he was an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Michigan.

A memorial service takes place Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Grand Valley Field House. Memorial contributions can be made to the "Todd Jager Multi-purpose Memorial Fund" at any Fifth Third Bank location.
