Presentation, march highlight Breast Cancer Awareness

During a lunch discussion, a Women and Gender Studies faculty member will examine how national advertisements portray breast cancer.

Julia Mason will discuss “Moving Beyond Pink Ribbons: Examining Breast Cancer in the Media” at noon on Friday, October 19, in the Kirkhof Center, room 204. Her presentation is sponsored by the Women’s Center and coincides with October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

On Saturday, October 20, the campus community is encouraged to join Grand Valley’s Colleges Against Cancer student organization at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in downtown Grand Rapids.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Calder Plaza and the walk starts at 9 a.m.
