Grand Valley State University Theatre and Department of Classics present
“Oedipus,” April 13-14, at 7:30 p.m., Louis Armstrong Theatre in the
Performing Arts Center, Allendale Campus.
The production emerges from the Classical Theatre Workshop, an
interdisciplinary class team-taught by William Levitan from the
Department of Classics and Karen Libman from Theatre. They are also
co-directing the play.
This stunning version, translated by Ted Hughes from the classic story
by Roman playwright Lucius Annaeus Seneca, presents a nightmare world of
fear and passion, where human rationality is overwhelmed by the flood of
forces beyond its control.
An original score by Todd Lewis was created using synthesized sound to
capture the eerie, yet lyrical, environment.
Tickets are $6 general admission. For more information call the LAT Box
Office at (616) 331-2300.
