ALLENDALE, Mich. -- More than 50 Ottawa County emergency workers will
respond to a mock rescue and chemical spill on Grand Valley State
University's Allendale Campus on Tuesday, June 19.
The training exercise, which media members are welcome to cover, will
include a confined space rescue. While the exercise is required for
members of Ottawa County's Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue
Team, other emergency units from the area are also expected, including
Grand Valley's Department of Public Safety, Allendale Fire Department
and Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.
The rescue exercise will begin at 7 p.m. near the Central Utilities
Building, on Service Drive (turn left after the Alumni House on North
Campus Drive). Media members are asked to check in at the Service
Building lobby. Officials will debrief and assess the exercise around 8
p.m. in the garage area of the CUB.
