WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Thursday, U.S. Rep. Sam Graves, R-Missouri, delivered on a friendly wager placed between him and U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland, following Grand Valley State University's 17-14 win over the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats in the NCAA Division II national football championship.
"I appreciate Congressman Graves visiting my office to graciously deliver gifts from his district for the second consecutive year," Hoekstra said. "Grand Valley State University and NMSU played a hard-fought and close game, but fortunately I have the honor of representing the winning team in Congress."
Graves delivered a basket of Northwest Missouri goods to Hoekstra that included Kansas City's famous Jack Stacks Barbeque sauce and rub, a large bag of Cherry Mash candies, Energizer batteries, a Northwest Missouri State University ball cap and t-shirt, and an autographed and framed photograph of Bobby the Bearcat.
Hoekstra, right, accepts a basket of Northwest Missouri goods from Graves.
