The chair of the Michigan House Appropriations Committee, Rep. George
Cushingberry (D-Detroit), visited Grand Valley State University's Pew
Grand Rapids Campus Friday morning.
Cushingberry spoke at a meeting hosted by Rep. Michael Sak (D-Grand
Rapids). Both arrived on campus Friday morning after an all night
session in Lansing at which agreement was not reached on the fiscal year
2008 budget. The chairman said he expected the House to resume session
Sunday to try again.
Sak and Cushingberry were also interviewed by Kurt Steiner of WGVU Radio
News, the university's NPR station. Sak is an alumnus of Grand Valley.
