The Kirkhof Center will undergo a second expansion to make more room for
student activities and university offices. The Board of Trustees
approved the $6.2 million dollar project at its February 9 meeting.
Board members also approved an increase in room and board rates and
learned about winter enrollment numbers.
James Moyer, assistant vice president for Facilities Planning, said the
three-story addition will be approximately 30,000 square feet and
include new office space, meeting rooms, study areas and conference
rooms.
The addition will house the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the
Women’s Center, which he said have outgrown their current space in
Kirkhof. Moyer said more space will then be available for student
activities and food service operations. Space will be remodeled for the
Lanthorn, the student-run radio and TV stations, and GLBT Resources.
The last addition to the Kirkhof Center was completed in 2004.
Construction is set to begin in May and is scheduled to be completed in
May 2008.
