Participants in the Healthy Helpings for the Holidays Challenge raised $250 to help sponsor a Grand Rapids family and provide them with toys and clothing for Christmas.
The challenge, sponsored by Work Life Connections and the David D. Hunting YMCA, had 22 faculty and staff members trying to maintain their weight during an eight-week period. Aaron Lehr, health and wellness intern, said participants were challenged not to gain more than two pounds over their starting weight.
The University Bookstore donated sweatshirts for the family and
stuffed animals for the kids. Gifts and money were delivered before
Christmas, Lehr said.
