GVSU student arrested in stabbing incident

A Grand Valley State University student was arrested Sept. 12 following an off-campus stabbing incident in which another Grand Valley student was injured after a personal argument.

At 1:37 a.m. deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department and officers from the Grand Valley State University Department of Public Safety responded to a stabbing off campus at Campus West Apartments. The victim, a Grand Valley State University student, had been stabbed with a knife. The resulting injury was minor, and the victim was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

The suspect fled the scene and was arrested at Copper Beech Apartments. He was taken to the Ottawa County Jail on a felony charge of assault less than murder and malicious destruction of property.
