Dr. Joseph Godwin, Professor of Accounting, has been appointed to the
position of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. Godwin has
served on an interim basis for the past year, following the departure of
Susan Martin who left to become the Provost and Vice Chancellor for
Academic Affairs at the University of Michigan, Dearborn.
Godwin joined the university in 1995 and previously served as department
chair. His many professional contributions include excellent teaching
and scholarly work as well as a year of service as the Academic Fellow
for the Office of the Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC). In his new role as Associate Vice President, he is
responsible for financial and faculty/staff resource planning and
tracking for Academic Affairs. He works with all members of the Deans
Council and interacts especially closely with the Finance and
Administration Division and Academic Services. He also serves as the
Provost's liaison with the Faculty Salary and Budget Committee.
