-Nearly 40 area Girl Scouts will explore the field of nursing during a half-day of labs, tours and hands-on work at Grand Valley State University.
Their guides for the day are nursing students and faculty members from GVSU's Kirkhof College of Nursing. The event is scheduled from 8:45 a.m.-noon on Saturday, January 13, at the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences, 301 Michigan St. NE.
Ron Perkins, learning resource center coordinator at KCON, said the scouts are ages 10-14. He said students will guide the scouts through several activities including simulation demonstrations, assessing equipment and a history of nursing.
The Grand Valley students who helped organize the event belong to the Student Nurses Association.
