Grand Valley’s Children’s Enrichment Center, formally the Children’s
Center, has planned a host of activities to celebrate April as the Month
of the Young Child.
Highlights include a read-a-thon, Dollar Day fundraiser and a bake sale.
Sharalle Arnold, assistant director, said the center’s staff set a
read-a-thon goal of 1,000 books for April. Faculty and staff members can
help by visiting the center’s Web site, www.gvsu.edu/child
, and tracking each book they read to their own children.
“So much is gained by spending a few minutes with a child and reading,”
Arnold said.
Money collected through the Dollar Day fundraiser on April 6 will go
toward student-parent scholarships and equipment for the center.
