Once again, Grand Valley's Student Senate is facing off against rivals
at Saginaw Valley State University for the Battle of the Valleys
fundraising competition. The proceeds from this year’s competition will
be going to the Helen DeVos Hospital's Child Abuse and Neglect
Prevention programs.
The competition, which runs this week, coincides with Saturday’s
football game between Grand Valley’s Lakers and the Saginaw Valley
Cardinals. The winning university receives a traveling trophy, which is
presented at half time at the football game.
There will be events each night of the week to help raise money as well
as t-shirts sold in Kirkhof Center, Kleiner Commons and on the Grand
Rapids Campus throughout the week.
The week's events will start Sunday with a GVSU vs. SVSU dodgeball game
at noon at the fieldhouse. Monday there will be a Bonfire Kickoff at 8
p.m. at Robinson Field. On Thursday there will be a fundraising dinner
in the Eberhard Center from 5:30-7:30 p.m. On Friday there is a dance
marathon from 7 p.m.-midnight in the Grand River Room in the Kirkhof
Center. There will also be opportunities to donate money when purchasing
food at any of the on campus dining locations, as well as online. For
